Located in the foothills of the Sierra de Aracena and in the heart of the Cuenca Minera Rio Tinto. Cortijo Zalamea is made up of 7 houses: Berrocal house with 6 bedrooms; 3 Villas (Marigenta, Atalaya & Zarandas) each with 2 bedrooms; 3 Studios (Zufre, Nerva & Membrillo) each with 1 bedroom. These names a tribute to the mining towns. The houses, with their north- and south-facing porches in ochre and reddish hues are fully self contained. The house, villas and studios are situated in large gardens with shared pool and outside gazebo with various barbecue areas. Free covered parking is available on site. The general decor exudes a certain African nostalgia, where the owners lived for many years. The houses are cozy and simple, decorated in an original style that makes everyone feel welcome. Each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and air conditioning (hot and cold). The living-dining room has a fireplace and fan, and each house has a fully equipped kitchen located within the living room. There is a table on the porches for each house, and others for shared use. There is a paddle tennis court (reservation required) and a 6x12m pool for communal use. The estate has 4 hectares. Part of it is gardens with drinking fountains, a waterwheel, and fruit trees, and other areas are used for grazing horses and sheep. IDEAL FOR REST AND RELAXATION. Cortijo Zalamea is in a strategic location, halfway between the beaches of Huelva and the Sierra de Aracena, in the heart of the Rio Tinto Mining Basin. The Coto de Doñana is 80 km away which is a sanctuary for migratory birds from Africa and the Nordic countries. Aracena is 35 km away. Cortegana, Almonaster la Real, Alajar, and Aroche are 62 km away. Seville is 85 km away. If you want to get lost along the roads, you can see dolmens, old water mills (River Odiel), a mosque (Almonaster), a grotto (Aracena), walk along the old mining railway tracks, or go cycling or 4x4 riding. The Corta Atlaya golf course (Riotinto) is located in the province of Aracena. In the area's restaurants, you can sample the delicacies of Pata Negra and the exquisite fish and seafood of Huelva. And during mushroom season, you can enjoy the famous "gurumelos."
